Feburary 23th 2010 - VBar 101 instruction videos
I have decided to make instruction videos for the VBar, to make a deeper dive into the VBar world, to make sure you get the most out of your VBar, all videos will be uploaded to YouTube as soon as I make them.
You can find the first episodes here;
Feburary 8th 2010 - Jive Programming Video

- No separate stand-alone governor necessary
- No messy wiring
- True head speed governor for nitro machines
- Easy setup via PC Software
- Intergrated Torque Compensation for aileron, elevator, and rudder
- Self-optimizing control loop
- Integrated Pitch Reduction feature on overload
The all-new Log File Software for v4.0
The Log File Software lets pilots obtain additional information about the flight attitude of the helicopter, in particular
- Voltage of power supply of RX (minimum voltage)
- Measurement vibrations and resonance of the helicopter
- Monitoring of the sensor wire and of individual sensors
- Monitoring of the radio and of RX signal
- Monitoring of the software
November 2009 - Winter project
I've started a little winter project, Im testing various connectors, and going to see how they fair in real life usage situations, for that I have built a super battery back which I can use in conjunction with my CBA II + 10X Amplifier, without the battery IR makes alot of difference. two 1s4p 26Ah in parallell, or 1s8p 52Ah :)
For this little test I've also built a little machine, that I can control with my E-Meter II hand unit, it will connect and disconnect connectors automatically, so I put the egg-timer on 10 minutes and voila, it has connected and disconnected the connector 200 times.
Last I will use high voltage with capacitors, so I can get a spark just as you connect a 10s or 12s battery, and try different number of connects and disconnects with high voltage sparks.
That way I should be able to get an fairly accurate picture of when it's time for you to change connectors :)
Stay tuned for more info and some pictures.
November 2009
Dark and crap weather, then followed by more crap weather...
So most of the time its indoor, fixing, tweaking and other stuff.
I've built a Next-D Rave which I placed an Mini on, in the process I found a bug about new Jazz & Mini Combo, which under certain circumstances can produce a hot-start, see more here, well, I managed, so in the aftermath of that startup, on the maiden a setscrew let go, and it was re-kit time...
Got a new kit and now the machine is flying perfectly. My setup for the Rave can be found under the VBar config page.
I've also prepped one of my Logo 600 for nightflight, havent got a chance to test it yet, but I will.
Another "aha" was when I tested my Logo 700 with blades with less bite, I put on a pair of blades which I really dont like on 600 sized (Radix normal blades) but lo and behold on my Logo 700 it was the perfect match for me, so that machine just got alot more fun to fly now.
Remember, Blades are PERSONAL choice, just because I liked it, doesnt mean you will, Blade-swapping at the field is the best way to find what you like.
Also got an Blade mSR for those rainy days, it's fun, it's REALLY fun, I love that little machine, so does my son :)
September 2009
Hasnt updated in a while, not because of lack of news but rather a computer crash which took away quite alot, two harddrives fails at same time, uhga.
Mini VBar, I finally got my hand of a Mini Vbar to play with, so I have tried it on various machines so far, it performs perfectly, it require that you take extra care when mounting since vibrations are transfered through wires, but other then that, it performs flawless.
Next up is a T-rex 250SE that I have coming in the next few days, which I will try the Mini on.
I have decided to finally end my Nitro venture, so I have sold off all Nitro stuff, I will only keep electrics from now on.
Ive focused on Mikado Logo as primary, simply put it's easier to keep spares at home for one type of machine since.
Still got the Electric Aurora as a "real" .90 though.
I've also been buzzy lately with rebuilding, for some reason crashes dont come in single occations, when it rains it pours. That's the cost of testing alot of stuff, you either forget to check, or stuff just happen.
July 2009
Hyperion's E-Meter is a wonderful tool, datalogger with a hand unit.
The computer "graph" program was lacking some features, upon request from Hyperion I helped them develop some new functionallity into their program.
It should be realeased shortly.
June 2009
I bet year 2009 will be the year of the lithium, not because its getting more and more affordable only, but for the first time, ever, I have with my own eyes watched a pack getting BETTER after 10 cycles, it has simply not happened before for me. Hyperion has come out with their G3 line (25C CX and 35C VX) and it just brings a big smile on the face going out and flying them.
It wont be until 2010 before we know for certain that they hold as many cycles as initial tests shows, but EverydayFlyer on RCGroups (Charles) did a 100 cycle test, in fairly harsh conditions, and the pack showed improvement after 99 cycles compared to the first few.
This is going to be fun :)
As a result, Ive pretty much un-developed my own Nitro fleet, Ive decided to keep number of brands down this summer, concentrating on flying instead, so Logo 400, 600, 600#2, stretched 700 is what I going to fly primary.
Easier to maintain.
A long dream has come true, my wife and I has settled on buying a summerhome on Gotland where I was born, of course with heli-flying capabilites right outside the window. We get access mid July, it will be a hectic summer for sure, but I wont slow down on the flying ;)
